About this deal

The source of the Gelatin was not clarified in the ingredients list. Therefore it is difficult to say to that Trolli is halal. It’s definitely in the grey area. Why did this particular candy get made? Is it worth the trouble? Will enough people eat these things to make it worth making? I just wanted to know if trolli candy is halal? If you’re unsure, does it contain any animal products (i.e Gelatin) or any alcohol? I think the flavor is marshmallow vanilla with strawberry sour center. Not sure. And I’m not sure I care. These are just plain weird and unappetizing. I get that these aren’t for the adult in me, but even if I was a kid… I don’t think the bouncy soft eyeball with its blood center would be fun to eat. Trolli candy is not halal certified. This means that the likelihood of their Gelatin being halal is slim because while it can be derived from beef, we would not know if the animal used to get the Gelatin from was slaughtered in accordance to Sharia.

To get a confirmation on the source of the Gelatin used in Trolli candy, we reached out to the company again. Here’s what we asked them: We found the ingredients of one of their classic flavors, Peachie O’s Gummy Rings, Gummy Candy ( source): Trolli offers gummy candies, marshmallows, and soft licorice gums in over 80 countries and has factories in Germany, Spain, Indonesia, China and the Czech Republic ( source). These Glotzer eyes are pretty big too. Guess that’s why they only give you four. And their size is just a bit too big to put the whole thing in your mouth. So you have to bite it, and when you do, there’s a really sour liquid in the middle. These get one strong star for the sour juice – it is truly sour. Yet the viscous-jello-water-like substance isn’t appetizing.
