About this deal

You will like the lightweight of this machine, and that is why you can manoeuvre it on your lawn without much stress. It comes with foldable handles, which make its storage a piece of cake. You only need to fold it and keep it in that small storage space in your garden. Those who have tested it found no fault in its cutting and liked how easy it was to store. While the charge time is agreed to be quite long for the 4.0Ah batteries, the pay off is a very long battery life that is plenty for most gardens. Reviewers also agreed that it was light and represented great value for money. The Worx WG779E.2 comes with a dual charger and two 20V batteries. Depending on where you buy it, these batteries will be either 2.0Ah or 4.0Ah and we were supplied with the 4.0Ah battery pair. Both will result in the same power, but the 4.0Ah battery will mean you can work at high power for longer. WORX batteries are covered by a 1 Year Limited Consumer Warranty and are not eligible for warranty extension.

The 30cm cutting width isn’t huge, so this mower is at its best on smaller lawns and preferably well-treated flat ones, as a lot of lumps and divots can affect the regularity of the cut. This is a compact mower for small gardens. It’s only 33cm wide and around 1.2m long when fully assembled with the handle attached. It’s powered by a single 20V, 4.0A battery, which might lead you to suspect that it’s going to be a weedy effort that will choke up at its first bite of grass. However, Worx has used an energy-efficient brushless motor, which should – theoretically – increase both its cutting power and runtime.

Also, there is absolute convenience working with this machine because you won’t be struggling with a heavy mower. It is environmental-friendly, quieter, and safer with low maintenance costs. With a properly-positioned large central handle, you won’t have issues carrying this 13kg lawnmower to the shed or garage. Safety Features

The blades on this model offer a generous 40cm cutting width which means that your efficiency is going to be handsomely improved, this is especially important on larger lawned areas or those that require a little more attention after winter, for example. I really struggled with this mower to find any downsides. The features are great and all seem to work well for a mower at this price point. The build quality cannot be faulted and it performs as it should. This again does not necessarily put it ahead of competitors but it’s good that WORX have taken advantage of what is clearly the most effective cutting system in the market. The cutting diameter of the mower may seem a little on the small size with only a 34cm mowing capability. Now, compared to its counterparts with widths of up to 43cm, this might be a potential disadvantage; however it could also be beneficial if it’s to be used in smaller areas and lawns with narrow strips. This is a great selling point for many UK buyers, as weather conditions mean we often need to leave the grass to grow longer before its suitable to mow it. Knowing this mower handles longer grass with ease is a good sign for any buyer based in the UK. The excellent battery performance is a big contributor to the success of this model, even more so when you consider how much more affordable the WG779E.2 is compared to other battery operated models.

When mowing, the WG779E performed excellently on my medium-sized garden, its cut-to-edge design allowing me to get closer to fences without digging out my strimmer afterwards. With a grass box capacity of 30 litres, you may not be able to get a better deal for a cordless mower. This means you won’t have to experience frequent box evacuations when working for a longer period. The grass box had an indicator so that it will be easier for you to monitor its progress. It is easy to remove, you only need to lift the flap and unhook it. Practicalities

Portable v Inflatable Ice Baths: Best Picks

In comparison, the Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 takes the same 2 hours to charge as the WG779E.2 but the the WORX will last longer with the ability to cut a lawn up to 350 m². This is surprising as the Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 weighs 3 kg less than the WG779E.2. Furthermore, the addition of the carry handle means that moving the mower from one end of the garden to the other is effortless. Worx have built up an impressive selection of tools that can be powered by their 20V batteries. Most tools take just one 20V battery – we are talking their strimmer, leaf blower, handheld vacuum, drills and even a pressure washer – but the mowers use two for optimum run time. As mentioned before, you can use Turbo or Eco modes to cut your lawn. I have used both and find the Eco mode is sufficient for regular summer cuts. I think I might need Turbo for the first cut after winter and would use it for cutting meadow-like lawns. Having not tested this mower on wet grass, I can't say how it performs, but based on the first mow (of a rather unruly lawn) I don't think it will struggle too much.
