About this deal

Crooks In Cloisters" is the kind of comic movie that is unlikely to be ever made again, mores the pity. When Walter decides it is safe to leave, none of them want to go, including Willy, who has fallen for June, Phineas's granddaughter; these two manage to get away safely together. Yet, Cribbins will be most fondly remembered for his BAFTA-nominated performance as the station porter in Lionel Jeffries’ impeccable adaptation of The Railway Children (1970). In between times, ‘Babs’ became a national treasure, although she is bound to be remembered for the wrong reasons, as there was much more to her than that pinging green bikini in Carry On Camping (1969).

But Cribbins was careful to avoid typecasting and seized opportunities to co-star with William Holden in The World of Suzie Wong, Richard Basehart in Passport to China (both 1960), and David Niven in the Golden Globe-nominated combat comedy The Best of Enemies (1961). Please consider upgrading to a Pro account—for less than a couple bucks a month, you’ll get cool additional features like all-time and annual stats pages ( example), the ability to select (and filter by) your favorite streaming services, and no ads! Its therefore much easier to sympathise with them, particularly when they appreciate the simple pleasures of growing their own carrots etc.Of these, most memorable were his tetchy guest Mr Hutchinson in Fawlty Towers (1975), the tinker in Cuffy (1983), a scheming lothario in Coronation Street (2003) and Tom Snout in a 2016 version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. They all follow a similar sort of pattern, the criminals are not particularly competent, finally hit upon a successful scheme and of course end up getting caught because 'crime never pays'. Caught between Charlie (James Booth), the sailor husband who had abandoned her for 2 years, and Bert (George Sewell), the bus driver who had given her baby a home, Maggie Gooding can turn on a sixpence between being blowsy and vulnerable.

Cribbins, who has died aged 93, became a national institution through his long-running career in British film and children’s TV, from Jackanory to The Wombles. The other gang members include Bernard Cribbins, Melvyn Hayes, Davy Kaye, Gregoire Aslan, and - sticking out like the proverbial sore thumb - Barbara Windsor as the wonderfully named 'Brother Bikini'. Easily the most liberated work of 1960s social realism, this transfer of Stephen Lewis’s stage play not only afforded theatre pioneer Joan Littlewood her debut as a film director, but it also earned Barbara Windsor a BAFTA nomination for best actress. Ladies in Lavendar (2003) Cadgwith, Prussia Cove, Bessy's Cove, Helston and Penzance, part of the Porth-en-Alls estate.I used to love this film as a kid, but some things are probably best left to memory and fond recollection. Seeking to get away from the heat the gang go to a monastery on an England off the south coast of England.

Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, ‘The Hole in the Ground’ and ‘Right, Said Fred’ showcased the actor’s genius for storytelling. Windsor is first seen as a seaside landlady forcing her guests to say grace before favourite boarder Chris Lowe tips a platter of bacon and eggs over her head. Rider Haggard’s She (1965) and undercover agent Carlton Towers in the James Bond spoof Casino Royale (1967). Please do not forward additional screen captures to us but bring the detail to our attention, for we do, and are, 're-addressing' these older entries as time allows. Ronald Fraser, Barbara Windsor, Bernard Cribbins, Davy Kaye, Wilfrid Brambell and Melvyn Hayes are all instantly recognisable to fans of British film and television, so if you be one of those people? It is pretty poor but if you're after a dated piece of British comedy then this is OK but not as funny as the better of the Carry On series. Images submitted must be in Landscape orientation, as would be seen on the cinema screen, not Portrait. After Children’s Film Foundation duty in Cup Fever (1965) and A Ghost of a Chance (1967), Cribbins honed his slapstick skills in all-star shorts like A Home of Your Own (1965), The Undertakers (1969) and The Plank (1979).
