About this deal
Very enjoyable private detective story, where Tess Monaghan is hired to locate several foster children for reparations of a long ago crime, and also to locate a woman's child she put up for adoption years ago.
Butchers Hill, Baltimore - Wikipedia
I have enjoyed Lippman's standalone novels but was underwhelmed with the first two books in the author's Tess Monaghan series. Lippman continues to include Monaghan's eccentric Jewish/Irish family to lighten the mood but the slapstick humour is toned down from the previous novels. Intramuscular fat is a key element of perfect tasting beef, and Stepney Hill Farms are experts at encouraging the perfect marbling in our meat.
I found myself yelling at the book on tape because of Tess’s blatant stupidity and the absolutely ridiculous situations in this terrible book.

The area containing Butchers Hill, Shorne, Gravesend consists predominantly of detached housing, a strong indicator of affluence. The story had good potential, but I really did not care for the character of Tess, who seemed pretty incompetent as a detective, and not terribly good with people to boot. The work was halted after an injunction was filed on behalf of several neighborhood associations and many individuals.Butchers Hill and surrounding area has a larger than average concentration of residents that are degree educated or similar - 54% of the resident population. Our own online doctor offers diagnosis and prescriptions for a range of conditions such as impotence, hair loss and cystitis. Both come with more complications than you can shake a stick at as some of the children are found murdered as well as some of the peripheral adults involved all those years ago. The cover looks like a very enlarged pink brick with a square cutout showcasing a nightlit street in Baltimore.
