Sennheiser rarely misses when it comes to headphone sound quality, and the Sport True Wireless is no exception. The frequency response of the earbuds closely follows our headphone preference curve. While the earbuds slightly emphasize bass more than treble, most people will enjoy the sound of these workout buds. If not, it’s easy enough to adjust the sound from within the Smart Control app or a third-party EQ app instead. Lows, mids, highs These buds are also missing one of Sennheiser’s newer high-end features: Sound Zones. This allows you to tailor EQ settings to specific places and dynamically adjusts audio based on the location.The Lows on the sport sound very good. While there is a boost, it’s to ensure that you can still hear them during your workout. They do occasionally crowd the mix, but for the most part, they do a good job of adding impact to the sound. You aren’t going to get the most detail out of the low end, but you will get presence and energy. Mids It's all positive and we haven't even touched on the sound quality, which is extremely refined and sophisticated for the money. Highs and lows are composed and controlled but dynamics aren't sacrificed. The Sennheisers present a detailed soundstage with impressive scale and authority. They're a little pricier than other wireless in-ear headphones, but if your budget can stretch, your ears will be rewarded. The Sennheiser CX True Wireless has a pretty accurate frequency response (cyan line), compared to our target curve (pink line). Bass and mid-range sound is emphasized a little more, but it sounds pretty nice—nothing’s boosted so much to make music come through sounding notably distorted. The less emphasized high-range sound from 2-6KHz is a little surprising to see, but this is intentional as it reduces the amplification of naturally occurring resonances within the human ear canal that we typically perceive as irritating. Highs, mids, and lows German audio company Sennheiser might already have an impressive selection of headphones available, but that doesn’t seem to be stopping them anytime soon.
