About this deal

The word epigenetics literally means “above the genes.” It refers to the control of genes not from within the DNA itself but from messages coming from outside the cell—in other words, from the environment... In one trial, researchers told patients they were injecting them with a powerful Parkinson’s drug called apomorphine, but instead injected them with saline. Brain scans showed that the saline injections had effects that were indistinguishable from the real drug. This book will teach you much on harvesting the power within your mind. Whether it helps you heal your body or not, it can show you the way to inner bliss.

THE KEY TO KNOW: True healing and change in the body begin to happen when emotions align with your positive thoughts. This is where coherence comes in. Your brain and body don’t know the difference between having an actual experience in your life and just thinking about the experience—neurochemically, it’s the same.” Dr. Dispenza has put in a great effort to deliver teachings that is of major importance in today’s living, curcumstances and overall consciousness. In addition to offering a variety of online courses and teleclasses, he has personally taught three-day Progressive Workshops, five-day Advanced Workshops, and seven-day Week Long Advanced Retreats in the U.S. and abroad. Starting in 2018, his workshops became week-long offerings, and the content of the progressive workshops became available online. combine a clear intention with an uncompromising trust in possibility, then you’ll step into the unknown, and that’s when the supernatural starts to unfold. I think that you and I are at our best when we’re in this state of being.”If you bring up the emotion of gratitude before the actual event, your body (as the unconscious mind) will begin to believe that the future event has indeed already happened—or is happening to you in the present moment. Gratitude, therefore, is the ultimate state of receivership.” You do this my waking up every morning and reminding yourself of who you want to be and who you no longer want to be to create an entirely new YOU!

we’re addicted to our beliefs; we’re addicted to the emotions of our past. We see our beliefs as truths, not ideas that we can change. If we have very strong beliefs about something, evidence to the contrary could be sitting right in front of us, but we may not see it because what we perceive is entirely different. We’ve in fact conditioned ourselves to believe all sorts of things that aren’t necessarily true—and many of these things are having a negative impact on our health and happiness. Certain cultural beliefs” Visualizing with emotion + intensity + frequency changes your brain and begins to bring your future reality into your present reality. The fact that there was no proof either for that story and for many other stories in the book is bound to arouse suspicion. And whenever you make your brain work differently, you’re changing your mind. As you begin to think outside the box, new thoughts should lead to new choices, new behaviors, new experiences and new emotions. Now your identity is also changing.” I suggest reading it first because it has a boatload of amazing examples from medical research and trials. It will pump you up. If you know physics, i suggest you skip the quantum mechanics stuff (Joe applies the science of the small to the big and metaphysical). Epigenetics is great.

The final flaw of the book is the blatant way it is meant to goose up sales for the authors program of workshops and seminars. I kept having visions of a Tom Vu advertisement, ‘Take My Seminar’. Albeit all those books claims some sort of (woo-woo sounding) science behind them, You Are The Placebo aspires to more science since Dispenza prefaces his name with a “Dr.”, and it indeed offers some more real-life examples, some experiments, and factual stories. Also: I don't agree with him that "I have to work hard to succeed" is a bad belief. It's a true belief. He himself works hard with his workshops to help people. I think what he's trying to say is "life is hard" is a bad belief. He thinks that one of the most important things you do to change your life is to decide who you want to be, and sit down and meditate on that every morning until you feel like a different person. You are literally wiring your brain in new ways to make that a reality. Which really begs the question of how do you really turn your body into a placebo? This requires a scientific investigation and testing, which no one is really doing. Certainly meditation does seem like a step in the right direction, but how do we replicate the results. Relying on anecdotal evidence isn't science.
