The C120D II is over 25% brighter than the first-generation C120D, with an estimated brightness similar to a 1000W tungsten light, rendering it compatible with many of the strongest studio lights in the industry. Supports wireless DMX adapters to control light with Smartphones, Tablets or Laptops (not included.) I also found the overall fan noise to be less, versus the 120D MK I. You shouldn’t have any issues using this light during quiet interviews where the fixture is placed close to your subject. Separated light control design creates well-balanced center of gravity, eliminates use of weight bags

TLCI Television Lighting Consistency Index is an accurate measurement of the color integrity of a source of light for broadcast use. As a result, the LS C120D II will exhibit its original color in pictures and video operations. Powerful temperature control with remote controller The C120D II boasts an incredible luminance of 135,000 lux at 0.5 meters away with the Aputure Fresnel (optional). With an approximate brightness equivalent to a 1,000-watt tungsten light, the C120D II is nearly 25% brighter than the 1st generation C120D, making it competitive with some of the highest-grade studio lights on the market.

The 120d II features 0% to 100% dimming control making it capable of being both the brightest and dimmest light on your set. DMX is the worldwide industry standard for film & television studios, theatre, broadcast, and all forms of digital networking systems. The 120d Mark II comes with DMX capability, allowing studio creatives to maximize their range of uses for their lighting arsenal. The C120D II has taken the precision controls of the C120D and expands upon them even further, allowing for dimming seamlessly from 100% all the down to 1%, meaning the C120D II is capable of being both the brightest and dimmest light on your set. The Aputure Light Storm C120D II is a complete re-design of the original C120D, 25% brighter. The Aputure 120d II now draws 140w of power (20w more than the original 120d) but the big increase in output, from what was already a punchy fixture, is great news. The 120d Mark 2’s DMX system is also pre-programmed with special lighting effects (i.e. thunder, fireworks, etc.) and allows users to input their own effects, creating a light that has truly limitless possibilities.

While the C120D II boasts an impressive studio grade build quality, it still weighs in at just over 2kg (4.8lbs) allowing filmmakers to easily take this light anywhere without having to worry about the transportation issues that frequently come with larger tungsten fixtures. I recently reviewed the MC series and the new 300D MK II and it seemed like an oversight to not spend more time with the 120D II. As a longtime user of the first generation 120D, I was particularly interested in the design updates in the second generation. Is it worth upgrading? Or, if you own the original 120D are you okay waiting? Let’s dive in.

Sandbags can be placed on the legs or hung on the end of the boom arm to increase the base weight or to counterweight the boom. In addition to the control wheel, the 300d Mark II led studio film lighting also features DMX512‐ compatibility, a new 2.4Ghz Aputure Wireless remote with an FX toggle button, and the ability to be controlled by the Sidus Link App using our Bluetooth mesh network protocol.Perfect Pixel Capabilities: With 16 lighting zones that can be independently controlled, use its 7 pre-programmed Pixel FX to create some truly unique and dynamic pixelated effects across its multiple pixels and take your creations to the next level.
