ASUS RT-AX86U Pro WiFi 6 Dual Band MU-MIMO AX5700 - Scan

I mentioned that in the post, Shawn. Guest networking is a form of VLAN by the way and all Asus routers have that. Thanks for the input, though. Reply It shares all common features and settings collectively available in Asus Wi-Fi routers, as I detailed in this primer post. It's similar to any Dual-band Asus Wi-Fi 6 router, including the non-Pro version or the GT-AX6000. Some updates may inadvertently cause a particular model to go haywire, likely because the company tries to do so much with its routers. Was about to get the AX86U then my friend said there is a pro version , Anyone knows the difference ?I don’t have a gig or more internet connection (it is 200Mbit on optical at the moment and it works fast enough for now). Subsequently, Asus released the RT-AC3100, which shares the same Wi-Fi specs but has four fewer LAN ports. Since the RT-AC88U is an AC3100 router, folks were confused between the two at the time — and probably still are today. The RT-AX86U delivered very good throughput on our 2.4GHz close proximity (same room) performance tests. It’s score of 137Mbps was faster than both the TP-Link AX11000 (133Mbps) and the Linksys MR9600 (111Mbps) but just a tad slower than the Asus RT-AX88U (144Mbps). However, it did not fare so well on our long range test: its score of 38Mbps was 29Mbps and 21Mbps slower than the AX11000 and the RT-AX88U, respectively. Was debating to get the RT-AX88U Pro when it goes on sale, but at that point, might be better off just getting Asus Wifi 7 routers. Reply The Asus RT-AX86U Pro is a tabletop router that offers a range of features for seamless connectivity. It supports Ethernet WAN, allowing for a stable and secure connection. Unfortunately, it does not support DSL WAN or have a SIM card slot for mobile connectivity. However, it is compatible with 3G/4G USB modems, giving users the flexibility to choose their preferred mode of network connection.

Well, I got the RT-AX88U Pro about a month ago. I noticed no real issues day to day but after some changes in my network I wanted to do some speed tests. First, right out of the modem IOT, the sppd was coming in over 900Mbps. Wired connection to the AX88U router had my numbers dropping down by almost half. I did a full reset and got up to around 700 but mostly around 500. Could I have some problematic settings? When I turned on AiProtection it also drops by about 100-200 Mbps less. Very confused about what is happening. I have a support call into ASUS and they are supposed to call me within the next 24 hours. Reply MSRP hasn't been any type of indicator for a very long time now. When on sale, it is at, or below, the RT-AX86U (and during COVID-19, that model was rarely on sale). Thanks for the reply. I have looked at the RT-AXE7800. If I can get the AXE11000 PRO for a similar price is it worth it or is the 7800 superior to the 11000 pro? ReplyThe Asus RT-AX88U Pro features VLAN and Guest Network Pro, currently available only with the Beta firmware. Actual data throughput and WiFi coverage will vary from network conditions and environmental factors, I don’t think we have TUF-Ax6000 in the US, but if has the same hardware as the RT-AX88U Pro then likely it’s the same. I’d say go for it! The VLAN support is minor. Reply I don’t know what you meant by “Operation,” but if you read the post, you’d know what I’d recommend. Reply

Wi-Fi standards: Wi-Fi 7 | Wi-Fi 6E| UNII-4 (5.9GHz) | Wi-Fi 6 | What is Wi-Fi? | Wi-Fi antennas (dBi) | Wi-Fi broadcasting/signal power (dBm)ASUS makes no representations or warranties about this product’s compatibility with future standards. I’d say the two are very similar, Joe, on all counts. I’m a bit leaning toward the Pro since it has some emotional value, but I’d say just get whichever is cheaper, and the GT is great and has that cool Aura Light. Altogether, we have the RT-AX88U Pro, RT-AX88U, RT-AC88U, and RT-AC3100 as four different routers that look identical if you ignore their ports and antennas' colors. The detailed settings of the RT-AX88U Pro's two Guest Network flavors, original and Kid. All Guest Network SSIDs can be isolated from the main network (Intranet) and comes with a handy Internet Bandwidth Limiter to ensure no guest can hog all of the Internet bandwidth.
