About this deal

Just because a gun has more hits per minute doesn’t mean it’s the most effective, at least not always. This is because sometimes the manufacturer may choose amplitude over percussion range. In that case the device isn’t hitting faster, but hits deeper. The Go gets a nod from us because of its angled handle. This greatly improves the device’s ergonomics and reduces the strain on the wrist. Ekrin were the first to come up with the angled handle concept and it’s nice to see other brands that prefer the traditional T-shape design actually follow suit. The battery is powerful enough, parking just the right capacity of juice – 2500mAh. You can use it for 3-4 hours before you think of charging it again. A USB-C charge cord is provided. If you love traveling bags, this one comes in a tiny nice carrying case. The R3 is also surprisingly quiet at 51-62 dB of noise. Renpho chose to give their customers something that’ll give them peace of mind. Many minis don’t come close. It has 4 speed gears which we think is just enough. We confirmed the advertised range using our laser tachometer and the results were 2200/2700/3200RPM for speeds 1, 2, and 3 respectively.

Hypervolt GO vs Hypervolt Go 2 - Percussion Massage Hypervolt GO vs Hypervolt Go 2 - Percussion Massage

Hypervolt is known for making ergonomic, lightweight, low-noise massage guns that provide a restorative percussion treatment to your body. And the Hypervolt 2 Pro is the most advanced, professional, and sleek version yet. We love its five speeds, pressure-sensing technology, and detachable battery. Like all Hypervolts, this massage gun also comes with a one-year warranty, the Hyperice app (which also includes guided meditations to help enhance your health and wellness routines) and is TSA-approved for carry-on. On paper, this kind of setup is very good for the job, but as we mentioned above, the Go 2 has a tendency to slowing down percussions under even little pressure – and we find it pretty unfortunate. In our tests, the Hypervolt Go 2 reaches 3200 RPM at its third gear but slows down under pressure. Even though it’s just the 3 speed gears, for a mini massage gun you probably will not require more.

In other words, when you get the device rev at 3200 hits per minute, it will continue rev as fast even after pressure is exerted (due to high stall force). On the lower end look for at least 3, but you’ll probably need 4 or at most 5. Sometimes however, it’s not surprising to find devices that have over 15 speed options. They also don’t get any points over any of the others as far as portability. It’s worse really, no pouch, no case, nothing! The attachments and the actual massage gun itself are made from hard plastic. The handle is wrapped in rubber to provide you with a firm grip while using the gun, and we really like how it’s angled to make it easy to use without wearing your wrists and hands out. Battery Expect 3 speed gears on this device and a percussion range of 2200-3200RPM. We expect a 10mm device to vibrate faster than a 12mm Theragun mini.

The charger is a normal wall charger, which doesn’t help for convenience in our opinion. However, we noticed Hyperice included 3 adapters for their international clientele. However, if you are a new customer (you don’t have any of the larger ones), this is probably not the best. Hyperice is looking to upsell the new Go 2 to their existing clientele.

By now you must have noticed that both these household names are missing from our list. Don’t they stand a chance at all? Hypervolt Go 2 - Portable Massage Gun

What about the weight, what has changed? Not much. The Go 2 weighs 1.57 pounds; which isn’t bad for any massage gun but may be slightly heavy for one that is supposed to be portable. Most mini guns don’t boast a long amplitude and the Hypervolt Go doesn’t defy this either. But it just may have an edge over most devices. When the attachments are mounted appropriately, this gun is decently quiet. Just like the bigger Hypervolts, the Go is impressively hushed. In this respect, the Go outshines the Theragun Mini which is considerably loud. All the Hypervolt massage guns are also TSA-approved for carry-on, making them a convenient addition to your suitcase or handbag. The Hypervolt 2 has an estimated stall force of about 25 pounds and a stroke length of 12 millimeters. It's incredibly quiet, so you can massage your muscles on the go without disturbing coworkers, other travelers, or housemates.

Hypervolt 2 Pro

There is no Bluetooth connectivity so if you're desperate to use the Hyperice App with your massage gun, get the Hypervolt 2 or Hypervolt 2 Pro. The same goes for the pressure sensor. However, the performance says something else considering how large this gun is (large mini gun). We won’t complain about the stroke length and the percussion range – those are really okay. But, as much as we had a fierce debate over the Theragun Mini’s value for money, we had no arguments over this device. For its steep price, this is a disappointing hardware. The low stall force gives it away. Compared to other devices in its category, it’s simply not good enough. What makes it a bigger bummer is that there’s 3200RPM on this gun. With a gun revving that fast, you want to feel all the vibrations. However, if pressure is applied, you don’t experience these vibration because the device slows down drammatically.

Hyperice Hypervolt Go 2 Review: Affordable and A-A-A-Awesome

While it’s marketed as a mini massage gun, it’s actually bigger and heavier than competitors, making it more of a small massage gun; however, we appreciate its sleek color and ergonomic. We have to say it’s a bit disappointing that they chose to only include two attachments when minor competitors include 3 or even 4 attachments. On the bright side, Theragun mini only comes with one attachment. This is the measure of how much faster the device can hit. However, these aren’t really the magic numbers. We like this current setup because it reduces the chances of pressing it accidentally. It’s also more consistent with the other devices. The control button locations on the first Go (left) and the new Go 2 (right). The second gen boasts a much-improved design. However, some brands have rushed these and as a result the market is flooded by devices that are simply not good enough, even for convenience. But was the Hypervolt Go rushed, or did Hyperice come up with a well thought out mini massager? In this best mini massage gun guide for 2023, we share with you the best options in ‘small massage gun’ and ‘mini massage gun’ categories, as well as make the selection process a bit easier.
