About this deal

Each player gets their own trunk to start off, then will pick up a branch card each round, adding it their existing tree and steadily growing it. Some branch cards may not score you many points initially, but could help a great deal at the end of the round depending on which of a players’ Kodama Card they choose. There are also simpler, little Kodama cards that kids can play with to make this title fun and accessible for the whole family. You can see how the tree grows as you play and see how the creatures and plants flourish with each turn. From the designer of the hit game Kigi, Kodama: The Tree Spirits branches out into a fun new way to play!

Personalised advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of information under California and other state privacy laws, and you may have a right to opt out. Each of the trunk cards are arranged slightly different and has a feature icon that is unique for that trunk card. Even for those who don’t respond to the theme and are purely playing to maximize their points, there is plenty of thinking to be done to ensure you get the longest chain of features on your tree, without going over the 10 point limit. From the designer of the hit game Kigi, Kodama: The Tree Spirits branches out into a fun new way to play! The game box is on the smaller side making Kodama: The Tree Spirits portable and easy to take on the go.

Kodama Duo is a two-player standalone version of Kodama: The Tree Spirits and a 6th player expansion. Etsy’s 100% renewable electricity commitment includes the electricity used by the data centres that host Etsy. In modern times, cutting down a tree which is home to a kodama is thought to bring misfortune and such trees are often marked with shimenawa rope.

They smell of cypress, with no two figures alike, and are different because of the individual nature of each tree. As mentioned previously, these icons will determine how many points you will score once it is placed on your Kodama. You're usually limited to right angles and specific amounts of overlap that creates a rigid structure, which Kodama: The Tree Spirits completely ignores.

Firstly, like all good horticulturalists, you pick up new branch cards from a market of four cards that are available each turn. The rules for placing are simple yet restrictive: the new card is placed partially over the top of an existing card, so that the branches pictured join up.However, the art and the ability to place cards anywhere, in any orientation, as long as the branch of the new card touches a branch on the tree, makes Kodama a lot more satisfying and almost tactile. Every few rounds you’ll have to pick one to score, which means you are constantly thinking about how to optimise and planning for the entire game.
