About this deal

Somehow, the author made Emmanuel the victim of her act of wickedness of reporting him and subjecting him to public humiliation. That's the opening line of the book and through it's 12 short stories you're led through one experience after another of women from all walks of life being shown pepper and how they managed to make pepper soup or shito! With these stories set within Lagos, the author employs a lot of complex sentences and overly sexual content to prove his point.

Out of all the stories my favorite may be the Beard Gang or Sidelined only because of the craziness of the whole thing. When the sexual content was repetitive (which can make you cringe at some point due to the raw descriptions), I asked myself if all what most men care about is their physical desires. I also thought it could have benefited from a further edit, and from more variety in the narrative styles/ voices. The final story had me in my feelings though and men like Charles in Independence Day deserve to be in a dark place they can never come out of for the trauma they cause. This book is full of realistic, flesh and blood characters, crass descriptions and understandable motives.Delving into the stories, women are represented as cunning and deceptive creatures and the madness of men is a response to these attributes. Almost two years later, Ugochukwu Ugonna’s ‘Who Drove Nearly All the Men in Lagos Mad’ hits the market.

What is also remarkable about the book is that the stories are not told solely from a female perspective. Although set in various parts of Lagos, the part about it being 'men' isn't quite true as the book shows.

Starr”, the author makes it known that the woman contributes nothing to the home as she follows her husband on all his tours and shows to ensure he doesn’t have baby mamas. The novel provides a plethora of erotic scenes and the stories are told in different tenses that sometimes get mixed up in the course of the novel.

The thrills and suspense, especially the cliff hanger endings of some of the stories had me putting the book away every now and then just so I can chew on what I just read. Lagos of the Mad: Review of Damilare Kuku's Nearly all the Men in Lagos are Mad | Melony Akpoghene".

What may be underreported in other reviews of this book, is the tendency of the fairer species to make terrible decisions where matters of the heart are concerned.
