About this deal

Nico, apparently, also has tremendous, virtually indomitable willpower, since he was able to survive in Tartarus on his own while seeing the place in all of its ineffable horrors for the entire time that he spent there. Percy, who found even a few moments of seeing it maddening, marveled how Nico had managed to survive with his sanity. At some point during his horrifying journey through Tartarus, Nico encounters the goddess of misery Akhlys. She was impressed at how much sorrow and pain the son of Hades carried, claiming that there was little more that she could do to him. When Reyna shares her strength with Nico in The Blood of Olympus, she is horrified at how much pain and raw anguish she felt inside Nico. Even a portion of his pain is greater than the pain she had felt from her entire legion, when they fought against the giant Polybotes. When Reyna accidentally learns about Nico's homosexuality, she, much to Nico's surprise and relief, doesn't judge him. She still accepts him as a friend, just as he is, without hesitation. Reyna's acceptance likely gave Nico the courage to come out to a very surprised Percy and Annabeth. He admits to being past his strong crush on Percy and is now genuinely happy for Percy and Annabeth. Hence, Nico is finally willing to become more sociable and more open about himself and his feelings to others. He is no longer nearly so insecure about his homosexuality, and he is completely open about it six months later in The Hidden Oracle. The Lost Hero | The Son of Neptune | The Mark of Athena | The House of Hades | The Blood of Olympus June 3, 2008 - Percy and Annabeth accidentally find the entrance to the Labyrinth during the training game set up by Quintus. Any more statues?’ the ghoul shouted to the crowd. ‘No? Then I guess we’ll have to wait for some real gods to sacrifice!’

In one of Nico's dreams, Ella recites a partial prophecy from the Sibylline Books: "the fall of the sun, the final verse." This foreshadows the events of The Trials of Apollo with the prophecy being repeated by Rhea in The Hidden Oracle.

Chronological order

Willpower: Nico, apparently, has tremendous, seemingly indomitable willpower, since he was able to survive in Tartarus on his own, while seeing the place in all of its horror for the entire time he spent there alone. Percy, who found even moments of seeing it maddening, wondered how Nico had managed to stay sane. The partiers yelled and pounded their cups. The ghoul made his way to the central fountain. The crowd parted, and Jason realized the fountain wasn’t filled with water. From the three-foot-tall pedestal, a geyser of sand spewed upward, arcing into an umbrella-shaped curtain of white particles before spilling into the circular basin. Apollo attempts to commit suicide to distract Medea, allowing Jason to break free of his ventus cage

Percy and Annabeth fall into Tartarus after Arachne drags Annabeth to the edge of the pit and Percy tries to save her. After discovering the extent of his powers, Apollo rashly swears on the River Styx to never use a bow and arrow or make music until he is no longer mortal Hylla Ramírez-Arellano | Dakota | Tyson | Ella | Octavian | Halcyon Green | Dr. Howard Claymore | Alabaster C. Torrington | Lamia Zeus | Hera | Poseidon | Hades | Ares | Demeter | Athena | Apollo | Artemis | Hephaestus | Aphrodite | Hermes | Dionysus December 21, 2005 - The campers take a field trip to Olympus; Luke Castellan sneaks into the gods’ throne room and steals the Master Bolt and the Helm of Darkness.Nico didn't sleep much that night, since the next morning he had red eyes and a chalky face. Before he left, Percy said his goodbyes to Nico, saying he could come with them. Nico said he needed time to think and wouldn't meet Percy's eyes, still a little angry at him. Annabeth put her hand on his shoulder and tried to comfort him, but he walked away. Percy and his friends were worried for him but Eurytion reassured them that he would be alright. After the battle against the Giant Army, Percy is raised on a shield as the Roman campers chant "Praetor!", electing Percy to the position, much to the irritation and unhappiness of Octavian, who wanted to be praetor himself. At the Feast of Fortuna, he gives Percy his tattoo marking his first year of service to the legion. He later pronounces ill omens and that Camp Jupiter will have hard times, but will be saved by an unexpected hero. Jason’s entire career at Camp Jupiter had been built on careful choices. He mediated between demigods, listened to all sides of an argument, found compromises. Even when he chafed against Roman traditions, he thought before he acted. He wasn’t impulsive. Not the safest plan, but at least Jason had the satisfaction of knowing that he could call an air strike on this noisy mob of dead guys if the situation got dicey. Of course, that was assuming he and his friends could get away. And assuming Leo’s doomsday candles didn’t go off by accident – Leo’s inventions sometimes did that – in which case the weather would get much hotter, with a ninety percent chance of fiery apocalypse. At some point during the ensuing months, Nico finally decides to come out and confess his feelings to Will Solace. He asks the satyrs to help him plan a picnic, but they misunderstood and create a picnic themed coming out party at the Dining Pavilion for the whole camp. Despite the misunderstanding, Nico comes out to the son of Apollo and, after Will reveals he feels the same about the son of Hades, the two begin dating. In doing so, he gave other LGBTQ+ campers the courage to come out as well.
