An ex makeup artist at Fellside Hall disguises Delilah as new temp Denise so successfully that she fools Samson and brother Will (but not brother Ash). All of the elements of a standard cosy crime novel are present in this latest instalment of the Dales Detective.Samson loves Delilah, but has been exonerated, and asked to rejoin the National Crime Agency, the Met job he loves and at which he excels. Even though the reader can guess for fitting conclusions, it is so skillfully written to keep the suspense until the final pages. He used iffy finance from the Karamanski brothers, Nico and Audrey, of the Bulgarian mafia to finance Fellside Hall, and when he fell behind with the payments they suggested a mutual arrangement - he used Bernard Taylor/ Taylor's Estate Agents to supply a series of remote rental properties where he ran cannabis farms using trafficked slave gangs supplied by the mafia. Overall I think this is totally worth it, it has all the cozy vibes one could want, characters that are fun and with depth, a dog that is the most lovable thing, a slight romantic touch and a lot of mystery. He had also become involved in a brawl at Nathan's christening - incurring the wrath of the large Metcalfe family, and they know how to bear a grudge.

Il n'y a rien que j'admire plus qu'un écrivain qui sache maintenir l'intérêt de son auditoire sans se sentir obligé de prendre en otage des éléments de l'intrigue ! Samson is shunned by most of the village, and no one believes Nathan's protests that he is innocent.
