About this deal

The PD2700U’s OSD has everything you’d expect in a professional monitor. There are eight picture modes, including presets for sRGB (the default) and Rec.709. An HDR mode converts SDR material to the ST.2084 luminance curve. Also included are CAD, Animation and Darkroom modes designed for those specific tasks. Users can split the screen and view two modes at once. A full suite of calibration controls includes five gamma presets and four color temperatures. In the User image mode, you can use RGB sliders to achieve a precise grayscale. You also get hue and saturation sliders that affect all six colors at once. Additional image enhancements include dynamic contrast, multiple aspect ratios and an overscan option. Four modes support low blue light mode, which progressively warms the color temperature to help reduce eye fatigue when staring at white screens for long periods.

Perhaps the only criticism of the monitor is its relatively slow refresh rate of 60Hz, which doesn't make it the complete allrounder some users will be looking for. But ultimately, the viewing experience won’t leave you disappointed. The wrap-up If you plan to use the monitor with multiple computers, say with an iPad and a Macbook, but want to just use the one keyboard and mouse with it, the addition of KVM can lead to a much better-arranged work space. It's a cool addition and is accessed via a number of ports on the rear. Image: Mike O'Connor Image: Mike O'Connor The screen

Under the BenQ logo is a small ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the monitor’s brightness in concert with your room’s light level. This can be handy if you work in an environment with a sunny window, since conditions change throughout the day. The feature can be disabled if desired.

BenQ monitors ship pre-calibrated, and colour accuracy straight out of the box is one of the brand's key selling points. Image: Mike O'ConnorIt has a useful KVM feature, which allows you to connect two PCs to the monitor and use just one mouse and keyboard. The PD2700U has two upstream USB 3.0 ports, along with easy switching in the on-screen display (OSD) menu. You can also daisy-chain two PD2700Us through the DisplayPort MST feature. That saves some cabling, as you’ll need only a single wire from your PC. The DesignVue series are well-rounded, multi-purpose displays suitable for general design tasks. BenQ's PD2705U fits in this category. The build and features The BenQ PD2725U performed exceptionally well in our tests, with clear, crisp images and excellent color accuracy. Its range of connectivity options, on-screen display, and shortcut keys make it convenient to use, and the Picture-by-Picture and Picture-in-Picture modes are useful for multitasking. The poor built-in speakers are a minor issue, but it's something to consider if you don't have different audio options. Finally, the PD2705U includes KVM, an abbreviation of keyboard, video, and monitor/mouse. This is a tiny hardware module which allows users to view and control two or more PCs using one monitor, one keyboard, and a single mouse. One of the top features of the BenQ PD2725U is its connectivity options. In addition to Thunderbolt and USB-C, it also has DisplayPort and HDMI inputs, making it easy to connect to various devices. We particularly appreciated the inclusion of Thunderbolt 3, as it allows for fast data transfer and PD charging, making it ideal for use with laptops.
