About this deal

This isn’t the first time that I’ve been asked to review a massage gun, but the first time I’ve been convinced to try one out. The design (how ergonomic the handle was), portability and any other innovative features were also taken into consideration when deciding the final hierarchy. Each massage gun’s strength and effectiveness was also considered, as well as their design and how ergonomic their handles were, before final scores were awarded. It’s also incredibly lightweight and comes with a storage pouch, which adds to its portability credentials. Despite its compact size, it has everything its bulkier counterparts offer, including five different massage heads, with each one designed to target a different muscle group.

This hero model is hard to fault; it’s a little heavy and our arms started to ache after a while, but that’s a tiny quibble. This makes it easy to wield, and a perfect partner for an evening recovery session in front of the telly. In the age of self-care, this science-backed method increases blood flow and loosens up tight spots – ideal for combatting DOMS and making your rest days work as hard as you do (it's only fair, right? Personalized Speeds, Modes, And Massage Heads - Six speeds are built into the device for easy control: 1500, 1700, 1900, 2100, 2300, and 2500 RPM. We loved running it over our back and neck after a long day hunched over the laptop and definitely felt less tense afterwards, which seemed to help us sleep better too. To the back there is an on/off button and 5 LEDs which indicate which vibration frequency the massage gun is on.

The soft foam covering and contoured design allow you to get deep into your muscles without putting pressure on sensitive areas, and you can choose from three speed settings to find the intensity that’s right for you. It doesn’t have the innovative heat features of the Pro Physio Massage Gun, and lacks the oomph of its competitors, but if you’re an everyday athlete who doesn't need anything super-intense – think casual use rather than a recovery aid for an intense HIIT session – then it’s more than up to the job. The battery running time is nothing short of outstanding too, lasting for up to six hours when fully charged, which is perfect if – like us – you forget to charge it after use. Although D6 has 2 more, in practice, I will probably use just 2-3, primarily the ball, thumb, and wedge attachments , which both models have. The mini gadget scored an impressive 4/4 for noise control on the in-house decibel test, so you can use it anywhere without disturbing others.

Our expert found it ultra quiet, so you can tend to sore muscles with minimal fuss, and its small stature doesn't make it any less powerful.

It’s lightweight (no aching arms here) and the buttons are perfectly placed for easy access mid-pummel.Note, the heat settings aren’t particularly strong, and our tester found the power button a touch slow to respond, but these are minor niggles. It’s surprisingly powerful for its size and comes with three different heads (a ball, a dampener and the good old thumb) for targeting different muscle groups. In the Runner’s World Lab, we put each one to the test, making sure they packed enough of a punch to soothe aching muscles. It’s also straightforward to use and no problem to handle, being just 620g, while the battery life was one of the best we tested, lasting a whole five hours. There are five adjustable settings, making it easy to really tailor a massage to your needs, particularly if you don’t want too much vibration on tender areas.
