About this deal

There are many advantages to biological filter media. Among them are fewer chemicals and higher water quality. The best thing about bio filter media is that they are extremely easy to install. If you already have a mechanical filter, you can simply insert the bio media filter in it. This will save you money and hassle. Biological filter media is an ideal choice for fish owners who want to use their existing filter. You’ll find that Hygger bio filter media is an excellent choice.

Do not fill solid removal filters more than 80% to allow the bed to be expanded during the cleaning process, I think you have said what I was about to add, and that was how it looks on your pond and in your garden. My personal opinion is that I don't think a large stainless steel box on the side of the pond does anything for the aesthetics of the garden. Oase Pond Pads used within a moving bed system provide a maintenance-free, self-cleaning filter medium. The Oase Pond Pads will achieve a neutral floating behaviour after approx. 6-10 week run-in time depending on water temperature and load. In the centre of the wheel is a protected surface that allows the growth of a secure biofilm that is able to resist collisions when operated as a moving bed. Why is it important?

The effectiveness of a biological filter depends on two main factors: the cross-sectional area (or CSA), and the hydraulic loading rate, which is the amount of water moved through the biofilter per unit of cross-sectional area. As a result, the media should be able to remove TANs in water at a high rate. In the end, this will provide cleaner water for your fish. Koi Food Spring Koi Food Summer Koi Food Autumn Koi Food Winter Koi Food All Season Koi Food Sinking Koi Food Unlike foam, matting, or other forms of static filtration media, the K1 Media is designed to move freely within your filter. The constant, chaotic movement of the air from your pump causes the media to self clean and thus requires no maintenance. This allows the filter to reach optimum effectiveness without the disturbance of periodic cleaning, avoiding unnecessary loss of bacteria within the filter. Oase Pond Pads provide an extremely effective bio-filter media featuring an innovative surface and pore structure. This high-performance Oase Pond Pads filter medium has been used in industry and waste water technology and further-developed by Oase to be optimised especially for use in filter systems for koi ponds, swim ponds and garden ponds. Thanks to Oase Pond Pads extremely large surface area Oase Pond Pads can be used perfectly in a moving bed process.

I don't think that there is any hard evidence that showers are any better than any other form of modern filtration. I have 250 litres of K1 in a large (8ft) multibay, which copes with any amount of food I throw in. If i had the free choice, i would recommend a combination of japan mats, static plastic stuff and by bypass, a bakki shower. Maturing the K1 micro media bio-media is important because a delicate eco-system is naturally developing for the bacteria involved in the nitrification process. K1 micro media provides the maximum active surface area for the bacteria to colonise, more than other types of static media. It is this process which removes harmful ammonia and nitrite from the water.Im also hoping to have the shed up n finished with the koi moved into a 6 x 4 x 4 vat and the filter barrel ruuning on it.... KennyI was only asking as i was browsing and seen the K3 and thought mmmm is K3 the next step up from K1 (number squence)... Like Kaldnes media, K1 Micro is white in colour. This may not sound like a big deal, but it allows for visual monitoring of the biofilm’s condition. If it’s nicely mature, the medium should take on a light brown colouration. A tip from EA is to avoid using more K1 Micro than necessary, to allow sufficient biofilm to develop on each piece for the required microbial and microfaunal communities to develop. Go overboard on the quantity and it will still perform nitrification, but it won’t reach its full potential. Biological and mechanical filtration are essential for the effective treatment of water. It is important to know that biological filtration should be combined with mechanical filtration for the most effective results. Combined mechanical and biological filtration are the bare minimum requirements for effective water treatment. However, the use of both types of media is highly recommended for any home water purification system. If you are thinking about purchasing a K1 filter for your home, it is important to choose a model that provides a full range of filtration.

i would have expected the Micro K1 not to be as good but as far as i can see it is just as good. The other upside is you dont need a massive pump to compress the beads when you're using K1. Some users of showers say that it reduces nitrate which I think may be true, but it it may not work any better than anything else, for all, as JK above has said, it really depends on your pond system and how the filtration is set up, and I do know people that have changed from a shower to K1, or added a K1 system after first installing a shower. While K1 is primarily found in leafy green vegetables, it is also present in some animal products and fermented foods. When used in an aquarium, K1 is more effectively absorbed by the body because it contains a protective surface. K1 also provides habitat for young and mature beneficial bacterial colonies. The media is ideal for purification because it has the capacity to remove excess ammonia, nitrate, and other harmful pollutants. Nevertheless a crucial step in pond design is to correctly size the pond filter. Too large takes up valuable space and is expensive. Too small will almost certainly lead to poor water quality and a decline in the health of the fish. Very often manufacturers size their filters according to the size of the pond. This does not make any sense and will certainly lead to disappointment. So, by way of an example, if you expect to feed a maximum of 200g. of fish food a day you should include 50 litres of K1 media. Remember this only a guide and is primarily used to size a filter before installation. once built and installed regular water quality monitoring is the correct method of assessing filter performance. Alternative Filter MediaFor all but the smallest aquaponic systems ensure you include a method of removing suspended solids K1 media is unique in that it can help bacteria survive. It moves inside the filter, dislodging dead bacteria and making room for younger, heavier feeding bacteria. Because it is covered, this filtration media offers protection for the colonies while enabling them to follow a natural life cycle. It also provides a good environment for young and mature beneficial bacterial colonies to thrive. You’ll find a greater variety of bacteria in your water, as long as you use a K1 filter. Designed to filter water with high biological efficiency, K1 filter media is an effective addition to any bio filter system. These media can be used in fresh water aquariums, marine aquariums, koi ponds, aquaculture, and hydroponics, among other aquatic environments. Their versatility also makes them a great option for many filtration applications. For koi ponds, they are excellent choices for this media because they are biodegradable.
