About this deal

The main mystery pales in comparison to Gamache's interior story, and the decisions he makes are sure to raise a few eyebrows. We empathize with Gamache and his desperation to find the lethal drugs that went missing at the end of the last story. Benedict went to the house the night Tony was killed to see how difficult it would be to demolish the house. Then Jean-Guy and Armand meet up at Isabelle’s to talk through what everyone learned, and finally get a big break: Katie Burke, the Baroness’s visitor, is Benedict’s ex-girlfriend. The Kingdom of the Blind is a Big Finish Productions audio drama featuring Lisa Bowerman as Bernice Summerfield, a character from the spin-off media based on the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who.

It’s a technical feat, as likely to amaze five-year-olds as absorb over-intellectualised art lovers. Without anyone else’s knowledge, Gamache employs Amelia Choquet, a cadet in the Sûreté Academy who once lived on the streets as a drug user and prostitute, to help him find the drugs. He draws on the iconography of battles such as seen in the Bayeux Tapestry and the British Museum's Assyrian Lion Hunts, using fake leather handbags, plastic animals, doll parts, flowers, chains and toy weapons.

Kingdom of the Blind is an ingenious mystery that follows a thoughtful group of beloved characters navigating their way through a fallen world. The false epidemic pulls resources from a real outbreak of Legionnaires’ Disease and people who would have lived now die because she and Damien were poking DMS. A Fullbright scholar, Mayes has taught at the Université Nationale de Côte d’Ivoire (Abidjan) and Cheikh Anta Diop Université (Dakar). Her second book, A Fatal Grace, won the 2007 Agatha Award for Best Novel, as did her third, The Cruelest Month. Her areas of specialization involve African and Caribbean literatures in French and English languages, Black women’s international writing and Translation Studies.

It wasn’t until the next day that she thought of a cogent argument, which was that organic systems are a lot less fragile than computer systems. He had shown her a place where SAMEDI seemed to be reading stuff in and out of memory for no particular reason. Her next, A Rule Against Murder, was a New York Times bestseller, followed by The Brutal Telling, which was a New York Times, USA Today, Entertainment Weekly, and National Indie bestseller. Her novel Reine Pokou (Queen Pokou) was awarded the prestigious literary Prize “Grand Prix Littéraire d’Afrique Noire” in 2005.

Sydney, Damien, and the ten other people who took care of BHP DMS actually worked for Cronaut Labs, the company that had put BHP DMS together. But when the storm swells and the power goes out, they must hunker down—along with Ruth, who joins them—and wait it out. On the wall of his cube was a poster for SphereGuardian showing a guy in a space suit that made him look like a large, red human-insect carrying a spiky looking gun.

A week after the night she chases but fails to catch a mysterious trespasser outside her town house, some unknown party texts Tempe four images of a corpse that looks as if it’s been chewed by wild hogs, because it has been. And then Beauvoir brings Katie to Three Pines, where she tells the story of how she met the Baroness, and introduced her to her grandfather, the Baron Kinderoth. In my opinion, some stories are stronger than others and you can see my star ratings for each one on my goodreads account (books read shelf).

Véronique Tadjo was born of an Ivorian father and a French mother in Paris and brought up in Abidjan.
